Dentist Choose the Best Candy for Halloween
When I was young I remember dumping out my king sized pillowcase full of candy and just hypnotically staring at the gigantic mound of sweet cavity making pile of sugary sweet ecstasy. Yes it's time. It's Halloween time. Now that I'm older I realize that I need to make better choices when it comes to the candy I hand out. Teeth are important!
I found a great article regarding the candies to hand out this year that will most likely do the least damage to the teeth of the children in my neighborhood.
Peanut Butter Cups – These delicious treats quickly melt in your mouth and don't stick to to teeth as much. I usually have to hide them from my mother-in-law because if she find the bag she'll eat them all.
Pixy Stix – The powdery candy dissolves fast and will produce less cavities. Not my favorite because I always seem to spill it everywhere.
Chocolate – As long as the candy doesn't have caramel or sticky nougat, the calcium in chocolate might actually be beneficial. It's also known that dark chocolate has great benefits because of the antioxidants.
Sugar-Free Gun – When you chew sugar free gum it helps you produce saliva which washes away bacteria and plaque. Probably not going to win a lot of kids over with it but it will help keep their teeth clean!
So this year when you're handing out candy think about the children in your neighborhood and give them treats that will keep them smiling.
