Dental Implants in Los Angeles: What to Expect

Dental Implants in Los Angeles and Southern California

Finding an implant dentist in the Los Angeles area is straightforward — but knowing what to look for, what questions to ask, and what a complete treatment involves makes all the difference. ADHP serves patients throughout the greater LA area from offices in Downey, Fallbrook, Torrance, and Long Beach.

What Does a Complete Dental Implant Include?

A dental implant is not a single piece. Every complete implant restoration consists of three components:

The Implant Post

A titanium threaded post, gently placed into the jawbone during a minor outpatient procedure. It acts as the new tooth root and, over the following months, fuses with the living bone through a process called osseointegration.

The Abutment

Once osseointegration is confirmed, the abutment is attached to the top of the post. It is a small connector that bridges the buried post to the final visible restoration.

The Crown

The outermost part of the implant — the tooth you see and use. Custom-fabricated in a dental laboratory to match the shade, shape, and contour of your surrounding natural teeth. At ADHP, we have an in-house lab, which means tighter quality control and faster turnaround.

When comparing providers in the LA area, always confirm that a quote covers all three components plus any preparatory procedures (extractions, bone grafting). A quote covering only the post does not represent the total treatment.

What Happens at the Consultation?

Every implant case at ADHP begins with a comprehensive consultation:

  • Medical and dental history review
  • Clinical examination of the gums, remaining teeth, and bite
  • CBCT cone-beam 3D imaging — a low-radiation scan that lets us see bone volume and anatomy in all three dimensions
  • A personalized, written treatment plan covering every step and every component before we schedule anything

What Factors Shape Your Treatment Plan?

No two implant cases are identical. The variables that influence your plan include:

  • How many teeth are missing and how long the gap has been present
  • The bone density and available height at the implant site (bone grafting can address deficits)
  • Whether gum disease is present and needs to be treated first
  • Whether extractions are needed
  • Whether conventional or zygomatic implants are the right approach for your anatomy
  • Your choice of crown material and restoration

How to Choose an Implant Specialist in Los Angeles

When evaluating practices, look beyond location and focus on:

  • Post-doctoral training in implant dentistry and relevant board certifications
  • Whether your case is handled in-house from start to finish, or whether you are referred out at any stage
  • The implant system used and its clinical track record
  • The availability of CBCT imaging for precise planning
  • Patient reviews, before-and-after photos, and the practice's willingness to show you completed cases

Insurance and Financing

Many dental insurance plans contribute to implant-related procedures — coverage varies by plan. Our team files claims on your behalf so you are not managing paperwork. Third-party financing options are also available; ask at your implant consultation to learn what is applicable to your treatment plan.
